Privacy Protection Proof
In technical , we use PBKDF2 to encrypt your and use it as a key to encrypt messages and conversations.
Technical Encryption Overview
1) When an is created, we generate two salts. One to use with authentication and one for end-to-end encryption.
2) The one that we use with is straight-forward and normal. We store a version of your , hashed against the first salt, and authenticate you against this hash.
3) For the encryption, we hash your against salt #2 and store it locally on your device (computer/tablet/phone). Having this key is the only way that you can decrypt messages. Since no one else has the that was hashed against the second salt, no one else will be able to decrypt anything.
We share our privacy protocol publicly so our s have peace of mind knowing their is never stored anywhere and without that , there is no way to create the secret key used for encrypting and decrypting the content stored in the backend.
*Backups and ed s for all s (free s, subscribers, one time purchases) are deleted after 60 days of inactivity.

Update 11/25/24: the first time I tried this app, it was almost exactly what I wanted in an SMS app, with the exception of a few basic features. Over time, it's gone downhill in of UI and UX. Basic features that are STILL missing years later: the ability to save all or some images from a message at once (instead of one at a time or auto-saving everything in the background); the ability to select multiple images; the ability to forward an entire message including images (not just the text).

Have always had trouble with picture updates sycing. Previously resolved by clearing app cache. I cleared the cache, closed the app, and updated the app. The update came full of ads that appear right where you type messages...and bonus full page ad that pops up for you to paid script. This update is garbage and all I hear is the paid script is overpriced and yearly. pics still randomly disappear and don't return. Only thing that works is to uninstall/reinstall.

I was having issues sending pictures but I think I resolved that in the settings by making the max size smaller (not larger like I thought). I tried tons of apps and every single one of them had the stupid message history in the notifications, this sending notifications to my watch every time I send a message, this is the only app that doesn't do that. I am now paying for the subscription, I wish it was a little lower but worth it. Every other app has at least one downfall.

[Original 2019-11-10, 3 stars] Deletes s after 2 months of inactivity even for lifetime paid subscribers. [Update 2024-11-08] Messages appear to send but all silently fail since the Nov 4th update. Over the last several months: occasionally creates new notifications for old messages in other conversations instead of the new message, or none at all; frequent visual bug where the for a pinned conversation is duplicated to an adjacent conversation, workaround is to reopen the app.

I've used the Pulse SMS app for the past several years and have enjoyed it. Unfortunately about a week ago the app stopped sending any of my texts. I would receive texts but unable to send a reply making the app useless. I switched to a different app and I'm able to send an receive text messages so it's the Pulse app and not my phone. Sadly I have uninstalled the Pulse app. Update: I reinstalled the Pulse app and can send texts again. I only gave 4 stars because now I have more annoying ads

The program was working fine until it went down about 2 weeks ago. They said to wait for the update. I waited and I am still not able to send messages. Phone, Table and two computers. One of the computers I've never used before and it was for testing. No go. The last email I sent they actually sent me a link to their knowledge base. I work in the IT field, if it was working before, it should be working now if they fixed it.

Constant popup ads are annoying. That and taking 25 percent of screen real estate in your messages asking you to upgrade is annoying. A one time fee would have been fine for an otherwise good app. But finally uninstalled after constant upgrade harassment and a subscription for texting. Google messages seems to work well and offers RCS for older Android phones.

Used this for years and loved it. But its quality has become garbage lately. It won't notify me when my parents text me, but it will notify me for every spam text I get. I've double and triple checked, and I do not have my parents muted. It's like Pulse can perfectly predict which messages are important so it can only show you the unimportant ones. I don't have any sort of filters set up. It just fails at the most basic setup possible.
