This app was always reliable and a bargain for the features. Since "Outside" took it over its been hot garbage. I didn't mind the subscription increase and felt it was well worth the price of ission IF it would've been the same app I'd used for years! Now I can't trust it to track my progress during events that are won or loss based on your ability to submit "tracks" showing you indeed ran the marked course. I'm going to start the search for a new TRUSTWORTHY app.

UPDATE: 45-days and still no fix. I won't be renewing. Gaia has for quite sometime been buggy, but now it's really broken. With the latest update (9/24) it no longer syncs correctly. It won't sync my routes or offline maps. If I make changes on my desktop, for example, it won't show up on my phone. No offline maps sync anymore. I've emailed a number of times with different bugs on this latest version, they only bothered to replied once.

Used to love and live by this app. We have traveled north America over the last 3 years recording everything from coast to coast, Canada, US and Mexico. In the last month or so the app has crashed time after time. Causing us to loose tracks and data that's been very important to us. I no longer rely on this app and would strong encourage others to look else were. I'm nothing but disappointed in it and feel really heart broken that that we have lost so much information!

Bring backup... Unexpectedly logged out in the back country. The developers are aware of this issue and working on it but please don't plan to use this app without having a backup in place (paper maps & com and the skills to use them or another app) as I was logged out on the way out of the back country when I got a momentary connection to the phone network. If I was heading into the mountains instead of out it would have been a big deal. In my case it was just an inconvenience.

Been using the app for many years. It used to be the gold standard for this type of software. The past year or so it has been one glitch or bug after another. It is a shame how unreliable it has become. I have cancelled my subscription and am currently looking at alternatives. By the look of the recent reviews this seems to be common . You are losing customers Gaia!!!

Edit: Latest update requires frequent s, which requires a network connection. The trouble is, we are frequently off the grid, so I can't sign in, and that's when I need the app the most. I can't trust Gaia anymore. ======== Best one I have found for offline nav. Used it driving around Baja California Mexico. Adding APRS data like Backcountry Navigator does would make it perfect.

Gaia GPS used to be great. I'm a member. Unfortunately quality recently took a nose dive. The editor is focused on social features at the expense of the core feature set. I can't trust Gaia GPS anymore. The app shut down and asked me to again last week while I was hiking outside of cell phone range. Fortunately I had a backup map and I also had a copy of my itinerary on Komoot. Otherwise things might have been dire. Edit after response: so this is by design! Terrible.

I used to love this app. Since Outside bought it, they've destroyed the functionality by requiring a to use the it. You cannot trust the app to be available when you need it, because it may throw a request at you when you're in the backcountry w/ no signal. I've complained to tech about this problem and been told it's "industry standard" to require a . It's a map folks, not a social network, and it worked great for years without s. I will not renew my subscription.
